Progressions To Purpose
Welcome to Progressions to Purpose (or fondly referred to as P2P).
Commencing gymnastics is like building a house, you have weak fundamentals and the house won’t be stable!
Progressions To Purpose is the strength of our fundamentals to help all gymnasts reach their goals. This program from a very early stage distinguishes gymnastics technique from school yard play.
When joining our programs you are giving your child the very best in gymnastics programs and instruction.
Gymnastics is the fundamental sport of all sports. All the basic body movements and developments are taught at gymnastics.
Gymnastics focuses and develops:
- Self esteem, Body awareness
- Co-ordination Gross and fine
- Visual Tracking and Flexibility
- Muscle Strength and Endurance to assist in all muscular development especially the development of the hands for when learning to grip pencils.
Gymnastics is the fundamental sport for all sports. All the basic body movements and developments are taught at gymnastics.

- Physiotherapists

What is Progression to Purpose?
This is a program designed specially for AGDA and offers the following advantages for your child:
- Teaches gymnastic skills from beginner steps through to advance.
- Each child in this program commences in the skill appropriate class and is taught to develop gymnastic skills relevant to each apparatus.
- Each child’s progression is individually monitored during class and is judged during our testing week at the end of each term, or at our Fun Comp held in June.
- During a Term not only are the gymnasts learning gymnastics skills on each of the apparatus they also learn a routines. These routines are performed during testing week held at the end of each term or the Fun Comp in June (see events calendar). Each child is scored on the performance of their routine. At the end of the testing session each child receives a P2P Report Card and is presented with Ribbon coloured coded to the overall score they have received on all apparatus. They must achieve a certain score dependent on the class they are in to pass the current Award.
- This program is a ten step program. At the end of the program the gymnast will be considered to be at a level three/four gymnast when viewed in the light of the National program.
- To advance from one award to the next the participant must attend their lesson during testing week at the end of each term, or the Fun Comp in June for testing. Please see the Calendar of Events for dates and more information.
The Progressions To Purpose Program is divided into the follow advancements with the following training hours:

AWARD ONE MONKEY’S TEAM

Award One of the P2P program is for beginner gymnasts who have never done gymnastics before. In this program the gymnast is learning the basic skills required.
This program is designed to take ten weeks for a child to learn all skills and routines. At the end of the term the Academy has a testing week where the gymnast is assessed for progression to the Bunny’s Team.
AWARD TWO BUNNY’S TEAM

Award Two of the P2P program, which is advancement on the Monkey’s Award One and the commencement program for any gymnast who has completed the Kindergym Krew Program. This program is designed to take ten weeks for a child to learn all skills and routines. At the end of the term the Academy has a testing week where the gymnast is assessed for progression to the Possum’s Team.
AWARD THREE POSSUM’S AND AWARD FOUR SEAL’s TEAM

Award Three and Award Four of the P2P program is the advancement for the Bunny’s Award Two.
These programs are designed to take ten weeks for a child to learn these skills and routines for each award.
At the end of the term the Academy has a testing week where the gymnast is assessed for progression to the P2P Award Five to Six duration two hours per week program.

AWARD FIVE
Award Five of the P2P program. Learning the intermediate skills of gymnastics. These gymnasts rotate to each gymnastics apparatus within a class. The duration on each apparatus is twenty minutes including a session on physical conditioning.
This program is designed to take twenty weeks for a child to learn these skills. At the end of the term the Academy has a testing week where the gymnast is assessed for progression to Award Six.
AWARD SIX
Award Six of the P2P program, which is advancement on Award Five. Gymnasts at this level now more challenging skills and routines. A lot of fun is had at this level and the teaching of focus becomes very important for the difficulty of skills learnt at this level. These gymnasts rotate to each gymnastics apparatus within a class. The duration on each apparatus is twenty minutes including a session on physical conditioning.
This program is designed to take twenty weeks for a child to learn these skills. At the end of the term the Academy has a testing week where the gymnast is assessed for progression to Award Seven to Eight duration four hours per week program.

AWARD SEVEN
These gymnasts rotate to each gymnastics apparatus within a class. The duration on each apparatus is twenty minutes including a session on physical conditioning. Classes are twice a week.
This program is designed to take twenty weeks for a child to learn these skills. At the end of the term the Academy has a testing week where the gymnast is assessed for progression to Award Eight.
AWARD EIGHT
Gymnasts at this level advance their learning of routines and increase their ability by learning the skills in this Award. These gymnasts rotate to each gymnastics apparatus within a class. The duration on each apparatus is twenty minutes including a session on physical conditioning. Classes are twice a week.
This program is designed to take twenty to thirty weeks for a child to learn these skills. At the end of the term the Academy has a testing week where the gymnast is assessed for progression to Award Nine to Ten duration six hours per week program.

AWARD NINE & TEN
Award Nine and Ten are the final awards for P2P. Skills learnt at this level are of high level and quality. Alongside of the P2P Program, gymnasts start to learn level one routines from the National Levels Program.
These gymnasts rotate to each gymnastics apparatus within a class. The duration on each apparatus is thirty minutes including a session on physical conditioning. Classes are twice a week.
This program is designed to take thirty weeks for a child to learn these skills. At the end of each term the Academy has a testing day where the gymnasts when ready attend to pass this level and move to level two of the National Levels Program duration six hours per week program. All gymnasts in recreation will continue to learn the routines from the National Levels program and continue training six hours/week.
